Malte Helmert is currently an assistant professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universit?t in Freiburg, Germany. His main research interests are in the areas of classical deterministic planning, focusing in particular on heuristic planning algorithms and matters of computational complexity. He has published award-winning papers on both topics in the ICAPS conference series (ECP 2001, ICAPS 2004), and he has successfully participated in the 2nd International Planning Competition (with Stefan Edelkamp, winning an award for distinguished performance for the MIPS planner) and 4th International Planning Competition (with Silvia Richter, winning the 1st prize for propositional, non-optimal planning systems for the Fast Downward planner).
